Meanwhile on Earth

They were planning
vacations to the moon,
space-stations,
car-size Soyuz module
with a hundred million dollars
or maybe more
you'd be there much too soon.
Luna or Selene or Artemis
call what you may,
no other terrestrial travel
could ever parallel this.
They promise
solar winds against your skin,
a heavenly experience 
to orbit the earth,
and a chance to
sit inside a crater
or become an ion
embedded in the 
Moon's regolith,
forthwith.
Between the glorious
phases of the moon
the travellers will commune
much too soon.
Meanwhile on Earth
East-west
Boko Haram 
Israel-Palestine
seldom at rest,
Uganda, Angola, Congo,
ISIS, Middle East,
human Beasts
strive for victory
in zones of conflict
and the last inhabitant
of Earth
waits for the last bus
to take him home
to the morgue
in death's dome.
Between the glorious
phases of the moon
and it's tidal deluge
time will stop
much too soon.
Some million years later,
Someone, somewhere
will be planning vacations
to the Earth-
an empty lonely planet
for whatever it's worth,
they will promise
first-hand experience of wars-
something they had never seen before,
and a chance to explore,
a gory folklore,
and with a few more banknotes
the agency will add
the feel of a human heart
to the time-traveller’s shopping cart.
